TRADITIONAL ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is a practice rooted in ancient Chinese medicine. It works by rebalancing the meridians in the body through the application of thin sterile needles in specific points on the body.
It is believed that the energy flow 'Qi' runs through the channels of the body. If the flow of Qi becomes blocked or imbalanced, this can result in pain or illness.
From a western perspective, acupuncture triggers the parasympathetic nervous system which triggers the release of the bodies natural painkillers and endorphins. These are hormones
responsible for producing happiness and pain relief.

HOW DOES ACUPUNCTURE HELP?
The world health organization now recommends acupuncture for over 100 conditions.
Acupuncture can be used to treat many different conditions.
The most common conditions in our clinic include (but are not limited to):
HOW MANY ACUPUNCTURE TREATMENTS DO I NEED?
The number of treatments varies depending on how chronic a condition is and how your body responds to the treatment. Typically, an initial course of 4-6 treatments is
recommended; and occasionally, less frequent maintenance sessions to follow.
This will all be discussed in detail during your first consultation.
WHAT DOES ACUPUNCTURE FEEL LIKE?
The sterile acupuncture needles are very fine, almost as fine as a wisp of hair. On insertion you may feel nothing, a tingly sensation or a mild dull ache. Most people usually feel very relaxed afterwards. Please don't hesitate to discuss any concerns with us; treatments can always be tailored with that of acupressure and/or massage instead of needles.
